    The Haul Truck Driver:  Levels 1 – 3 is responsible for helping on rig moves, hauling equipment down the road, and securing loads according to DOT standards.

    Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

    • Works in a safe, healthy, and environmentally protective manner
    • Moves drilling rigs and related equipment from the current location to the new location
    • Ensures all required paperwork is in their truck
    • Keeps trip sheets, interstate mileage records, and logbooks
    • Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment and performs light maintenance on units they drive
    • Maintains pre-trip inspection records
    • Abides by and is responsible for enforcement of safety policies
    • Follows all load securement requirements
    • Follows direction and is in close communication with supervisor and rig managers
    • Documents work per Ensign standards
    • Abides by all DOT laws, rules and regulations and is willing and able to travel when and where requested
    • Demonstrates willingness and availability to work long hours and weekends when requested on short notice
    • Reports and corrects any unsafe work practices and safety hazards
    • Participates in all safety programs, processes and requirements
    • Attends Operations Training up to two times per year and up to five days per training at designated locations
    • Performs other duties as directed by management
    • Level 1:
      • Learns and understands winch operations
      • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections
      • Demonstrates ability to back up to loads
      • Fills out logs
      • Learns and understands proper load securement
      • Checks chains and OSHA knots
      • Understands directions and routes
    • Level 2:
      • Understands and is proficient in Haul Truck Driver Level 1 duties
      • Performs maintenance of truck and keeps truck clean
      • Helps out in yard when asked
      • Answers phone and is willing to go out after-hours
      • Helps and mentors Level 1 Haul Truck Drivers
    • Level 3:
      • Understands and is proficient in Haul Truck Driver: Levels 1 and 2 duties
      • Performs tasks efficiently, safely and without supervision
      • Helps and mentors Haul Truck Drivers:  Levels 1 & 2

    Qualifications

    The employee must:

    • Be at least 21 years of age, according to USDOT regulations
    • Pass a post-offer physical examination, fitness testing, safety aptitude test, drug tests & background check
    • Provide proof of and maintain proper legal authorization to work in the United States
    • Arrange for reliable transportation to and from work and training locations
    • Be able to speak and read English well enough  to understand verbal and written safety postings, alerts and announcements, communicate with co-workers and be able to participate in job safety analysis meetings
    • Maintain a valid CDL Class A License, preferably with Hazmat and Tanker Endorsements; good driving record and medical card; and meet Ensign Insurance Requirements to drive, including permission for release of driver records

    Technical Competencies

    • Understands and is capable of reading all safety / training requirements and materials
    • Demonstrates knowledge of basic mechanical and technical skills
    • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills

    • Maintains a professional, effective, and polite relationship with other Ensign employees and suppliers

    Education and Experience

    • Level 1: High School diploma or GED preferred
    • Level 2: High School diploma or GED and 1 year of experience is preferred
    • Level 3: High School diploma or GED and 3 years of experience is preferred

    Other Accountabilities

    • Business Ethics – Understands fully Ensign’s ethics policy and its application in all business dealings including contractual agreements and contract negotiations
    • Business Policies – Understands and agrees to follow all of Ensign’s Policy and Directives and procedures as set forth in the Ensign Company Policy and Basic Directives Handbook for Employees
    • Certifications – Maintains technical and safety certifications required by company or government agencies; remains current on all OSHA, EUSD and other required training
    • Drug-free workplace – Conforms to a drug-free workplace, not be under the influence of mind-altering prescription or non-prescription drugs, including alcohol and other drugs of abuse.
    • Occupational Health and Safety – Understands fully the Ensign Health and Safety policy and self-responsibility for own health and safety at work; Demonstrates responsibility to avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through any act or omission
      • Uses the correct protective clothing and equipment as provided by Ensign and guards against misuse or damage to such equipment
      • Reports any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self-corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minor
